Volume 1: Exfoliation
by Dawn Sanders, Eyespa owner
3 months ago, I had a makeover with Edward, Eyespa’s
resident makeup artist. As he put together my fall look, sheer, but glowing,
he noted that I needed to exfoliate. He started out gently but ended with: ‘This
is unacceptable; I mean, you own a spa’. That night I went home embarrassed
and used Academie’s Phyto-Gommage, and then used it every day until I didn’t
see or feel dead skin. The results were glowing. You see, exfoliation removes
the dead skin that builds up as new skin is born and top layer skin gets contaminated
by the elements like dirt, oil and sun. When we don’t exfoliate or scrub away
that top layer, with a gentle peeling scrub (you may notice small sand like
particles in an exfoliant), the pores remain clogged, the skin becomes dull,
and can literally peel off as it is touched. Not sexy, no matter what your age.
If you are worried that you need exfoliation, and you don’t want your feelings
hurt by your loved ones, come in for a one hour facial (48.83 with tax and free
eyebrows), guaranteed to remove impurities on the surface and in the pores.
And, after your facial, get an exfoliant. I recommend our Academie product,
Phyto-gommage, but if money is an issue, St Ives Apricot scrub is okay (for
now).
